The First Annual Flashbacks Pie Eating Contest

When the lights turn on, you drag your feet towards the door squeezing every last drop from your bottle of beer. We tell you that the fun is over and it's time to retire and as you get swallowed in a massive wave of drunks spilling into the streets you look around and see - the floor you were dancing barefoot on is covered with cigarette butts and chewed up gum, the ashtrays are full and so are the trash bins filled with everything you thought the night had to offer. The smiling waitresses are all gone and you wonder where they went, the friendly doormen have turned into intimidating gate keepers making sure everyone leaves without any alcholic souvenirs, and the bartenders busy themselves with the daunting task of cleaning up after a 10 hour party of atleast 300 of you and your "closest" friends. Man, it sucks to be them. And the door quickly shuts behind you.

To break it softly to everyone else, you need not shrug, shake your head nor sympathize too deeply. The minute the meter starts for you cab fare home is the minute the REAL fun begins.

Mr. Reeves, club manager, referees the contest. Making sure every contestant is provided their own pie (complete with pie holders,) and provides a fairly crisp 50 dollar bill for first place prize.

One of the contestants, Mr. Burley, who ate his pie with true passion. Though he didn't win this time around he is determined to practice his eating skills, along with breathing techniques in hopes of being a contender for next year's contest.

"Scotty" I believe had no technique at all. From the angle I was at it was hard to see if he was even chewing or just taking a nap in it.

"Scotty" and his pie holder. The pie holder being more enthusiastic than the contestant himself cheered him on with provocative outbursts. She was very entertaining and it's rumored she is guaranteed an invite to next year's event with or without him.

A bird's eye view of the contest. A very excellent picture perfect to print for postcards specifically designed to send to hungry third world countiries.

We couldn't keep the media out when word broke lose that there was fun in the club after hours. Reporters broke the doors down just to get footage of Flashbacks after hours.

The contest was immediately followed by a staff meeting where, planning ahead, we tried to vote on who would look like the better Santa.

Wishlist

My Amazon Wishlist: Got into the whole gift thing since Ching and Brian have been getting anonymous gifts from anonymous stalkers and I'm thinking..."How come I don't have a stalker?"

I was really disappointed to find that I couldn't think of anything I wanted other people to buy me though. Most of my purchases have been made on impulse so I never know what I want until I want it. Anyway I tried to load it up with CD's I never got to buy and books I'll never get to read. I'll make a handy dandy link on the side soon. Now that I have a wishlist I need more time making friends online like Ching and Brian do so they can buy me stuff. Or maybe I'll just hit up Mom and Dad. Yeah, that's probably what I'll end up doing.

Special Request:

THIS IS THE LINK FOR THAT CARTOON I WAS TALKING ABOUT IN THE SMOKESHACK. CLICK HERE NOW.

For those special people who refuse to read through the blog entries to get the link, I will keep this at the top for the next couple of days. (Hey, less updating for me.) But really though my blogs are that dry you just plain refuse to read what they're about to see which entry your f-ing link would be in. Seriously?

Okay, in case you did read that I'm just joking. I work with you, I don't want problems.

Game off - yak turd!

Alright, I never saw a yak in the Philippines. We had carabaos and they were harmless. They loved the water more than I did.

A little bit of nostalgia since it's only 10 more days until my Mama Yay gets here. Mama Yay is my grandma from my mom's side. She basically took care of my sis and I growing up. During the school year she would spend in Manila with us and then for the summer she would haul us off to Tanjay for "vacation."

The following are pics I gathered from flickr. There are more scenic and artistic ones but I took the ones that reminded me more my daily routines as a kid. Hence the river shots.

This trashbag claims: "Bawal Ang Tamad Sa Olangapo" - Laziness is not allowed in Olangapo. Really, though have you met anyone from Olangapo? Okay pretend that you had and roll your eyes with me anyway.
